Abortion is illegal in the Philippines and in contrast to abortion, Post Abortion Care (PAC )is legal in the Philippines; it is mandated under the Responsible Parenthood and Reproductive Health (RPRH) Law or RA 10354, reading from Section 3 (J): “While this Act recognizes that abortion is illegal and punishable by law, the government shall ensure that all women needing care for post-abortive complications and all other complications arising from pregnancy…” Even if so, there are still rigid barriers to achieving full
enjoyment of PAC, stigma being one of them.
The Women’s Global Network for Reproductive Rights (WGNRR) has been VCAT workshops and learning sessions on PAC which aims to increase the effectiveness of organizations' capacities to advocate and appreciate the provision of humane, compassionate and non-judgmental PAC.
Thankful to the WGNRR for guiding us to clarify myths and values on abortion issues and raising the level of our awareness on PAC.
