Over the years, society has treated the youth as some treasure that needs to be protected. Frail, carefree, and even ignorant - those were the typical depictions of young individuals that are prevalent in the Philippine culture. Due to these perceptions, the voices of the young ones were often overlooked and ignored as people disregarded the value of their wisdom.
However, as society becomes more advanced and modernized, education among the youth improves significantly. Not only have they acquired a sufficient amount of linguistic, arithmetic, and scientific knowledge - some were even trained to become engaged in addressing the common societal issues that are currently experienced.
ILAW Shared Community Inc., is one of the organizations in Iligan City that values the voices of the youth and empowers them to become catalysts of change. In the recent “PASIGARBO sa DIYANDI Iligan Youth Leadership and Service Awards” by the Iligan City Youth Development Council of Iligan City, notable and esteemed members of the organization were recognized for their exemplary contributions in leading the role of youth in our community.
Jhune Ace Lubang , Gilbert Yap, Daniel Ethan Aranas, Jonh Paul Villamora, and Mat Ronald Abiol, congratulations on successfully receiving recognition for your efforts and participation in community engagement. May this serve as an inspiration to fellow youth in Iligan City and may all realize that our voice also matters.
